The Crimsworth Valley and beyond

Looking out over the Crimsworth Valley from the cottage

In the heart of the Pennines Gibraltar Farm Cottage is on the doorstep to some of the countries best walking and cycling routes including The Calderdale Way, The Pennine Way and the Pennine Bridleway Mary Townley Loop. The 'bohemian' town of Hebden Bridge, Hardcastle Craggs owned by the National Trust and 'Bronte Country' are only short distances away.
Lumb Falls, directly below the cottage - as quoted on the Outdoor Swimming Scociety's website - 'this quiet circular swimming pool is overhung with ferns and ivy, with mossy cliffs sprouting small waterfalls like a Japanese garden. The water is brown and cold, but a great place to strip off and plunge in, massaging shoulders and the crown of your head under the falls'.

Top Withins - a ruined farmhouse near Haworth associated with the Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights

Hardcastle Crags, Hebden Bridge - a beauty spot of the South Pennines with more than 160 hectares (400 acres) of unspoilt woodland.
At its heart is Gibson Mill, a family-oriented visitor centre, telling the history of the valley over the past 200 years.
